I have to agree with you there of course. Microblogging is making it possible for every one to communicate, even those who doesn't have the writing skills, since it's only 140 characters needed.

I agree with you on the threaded comments. I can't use Tweetdeck either. I have used Twirl earlier, but now I mostly use the FireFox plugin TwitterFox.

It does look like Twitter has taken over now and if anyone else will succeed, they better offer something really different, fun or useful for the user to be able to beat Twitter.

Excellent points Mike, I still feel that if twitter would evolve and get at least threading the rest wouldn't stand a chance. I mean just to get a feed into Twitter you have to go to another service to make it happen. Wheras in Jaiku and now Bloggy you just add the feeds and it works right away. So from my point I will have Twitter as my main channel, but still hang on Jaiku and Bloggy as well.

the recent conversations on Jaiku and the posts by both of you have helped clarify things a bit for me, as to why prefer jaiku over the others.

Also the point in this article, that as twitter does *NOT* support threading makes me understand why i don't like it - it is SMS chat via a web interface.
That method of communication is, by nature, kind of closed, where as things like Jaiku, Rejaw (and now bloggy), Disquis are closer to forums/IRC etc.
This is important as i see it, because there is an often quoited number 1-9-90 == 1 Person creates, 9 Comment, 90 read (I can't seem to find a link to the original article where this is reported though). This is relavent as Twitter seems to be designed for the 1, where-as the others are for the 100, or at least it does from where i sit.

in case it helps, I currently think of identi.ca as Twitter for Freetards (love that Fake Steve managed to get such a clever term for those that will only use Free/open software).

I am also *massivley* encouraged that Jyri and Even met and talked informally (see Jyri's tweet http://twitter.com/jyri/status/1256191858)

I also need to lower the friction of getting stuff into identi.ca (it is sitting out there by itself at the moment - see this picture )
